Wonder World Park

Known as the first show cave in Texas, Wonder World Park is a one-of-a-kind theme park featuring tours of the Balcones Fault Line Cave as the main park feature. There are many other attractions including the Observatory Tower, Topsy-Turvy World of the Anti-Gravity House, train rides through the Mystery Mountain waterfalls, and the Texas Wildlife Petting Park.

The park also hosts regular and seasonal events, including Haunted Cave Tours during October to celebrate the Halloween season, as well as the Mermaid Bazaar flea market on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

The Meadows Center

If you are interested in connecting with the river ecosystem, a visit to the Meadows Center will do just that. Glass-Bottom Boat Tours take place over the Spring Lake where you can see various fish species, and turtles (maybe even mermaids if you look hard enough!).

The Discovery Hall, Wetlands Boardwalk, and the Spring Lake Trails provide opportunities to get outside and learn more about the spring-fed habitat and the local flora and fauna supported by its presence.

Additionally, the Meadows Center offers Family Fun Days on select Saturdays throughout the year complete with nature-themed activities, crafts and more. Family Fun Days are currently on hold due to the pandemic – but check back with their website for future updates.

Children's Park Playscape

Every kid has a favorite playground, and San Marcos’ Children’s Park Playscape is one of the best in town.Featuring a poured rubber safety surface, wide ramps, a roller slide, four-seat We-saw, Expression Swing, Liberty Swing, Omni Spinner, Team Swing, and a therapeutic seat on the Zip Krooze, this playground was recently rebuilt from the ground up but has been entertaining kids for almost 25 years.

Once a year, the Just for Fun Parade takes off from the Children’s Park to walk, ride, or pedal towards Downtown. The purpose is in the name – it’s just for fun! Wild outfits and silly attitudes are encouraged. The next Just for Fun Parade takes place on April 30, 2022.
